We within the Body of believers are all familiar with the story of Jesus telling the disciples to put down their nets and follow Him, and challenging them to become fishers of men. It is indeed the greatest of all Christian principles to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world. As we go out as ambassadors for Christ, speaking His truth, shedding His light, extending His heart of compassion, we must remember the basics of the cause. The basics are in fact found within Matthew chapter 4, as Christ challenges them to take time from ordinary and anticipate the extraordinary. We too have this same challenge in each day that we live for Christ. It is in fact a basic principle, but more often than not a lost art in modern Christianity.
The concept of daily witness in a world of opportunities, has been replaced in many Christian circles. The relationship based Biblical Gospel of Jesus, has been redirected as a more event based, Hollywood version, of grandeur. It is of course, always important to dream big in God, and anticipate great things in His name. However, when we replace the every day experience of knowing Christ and seizing opportunities to share that knowledge with the world, we have effectively unplugged the power source.
We must never lose sight of the Biblical concept of Christianity. It is not found in scheduled meetings, it is not grand opportunities to minister to thousands, it is not having everyone know our name, it is not finding prosperity as the world defines, it is not a dress code, it is not cliches, it is not an imitation of others success, it is not about us. It is in fact just a relationship of intimate time with the Savior, from which all of the opportunities He provides to us in individual service flow. Those opportunities do not have to fit a mold, they only have to fit the divine plan of God for our life.
We are at a place as the Body of Christ that we have never seen before. As with so many other great seasons in history, we are standing on the edge of seeing many souls won for the Kingdom all over the world. Because of this, we also have to begin to get back to the grass roots of who Christ is meant to be in our life, what He has in fact empowered us to do, and what He absolutely expects of each of us every single day. We must survey our motivations, contemplate our goals, and recapture these most basic concepts of relationship.
The Word promises in 2 Chronicles 7 that when God's people humble themselves (let go of impure motives), pray and seek (abandon ourselves to the cause), turn from the world (leave all of our idols in ruin), He will HEAR AND HEAL! What an awesome promise to ponder!
Amen! Good Word! Thanks for that
